Shari Burton is a seasoned education leader with a profound commitment to empowering students, supporting educators, and fostering positive school communities. With nearly two decades of experience in the field of education, Shari has demonstrated a remarkable ability to leverage her leadership skills, communication expertise, and emotional intelligence to maximize the potential of students and staff alike. Shari's journey in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Elizabeth City State University in May 1993. Building upon her passion for teaching and learning, she pursued licensure in Elementary Education K-6 from North Carolina Central University in December 2007. She furthered her academic credentials by earning a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University in May 2015.
Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Joyner Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, NC, Shari plays a pivotal role in co-leading a dual magnet elementary school. Prior to her current role, Shari served as a Multi-Tiered System of Supports Coach in the Southwestern Region of WCPSS, where she provided invaluable support to school administration and leadership teams in aligning systems and structures. SharI's journey in education began in the classroom, where she served as a dedicated teacher at various elementary schools in Raleigh and Garner, NC.
She currently serves as an Elementary AP Director in the Wake County Division of Principals and Assistant Principals. Additionally, she is a member of several professional organizations, including the North Carolina Association of School Administrators, Wake ABSE, NCAE, and ASCD. Beyond her professional endeavors, Shari serves as the Coordinator for the Education and Career Development ministry in her church where she continues to empower and encourage academic success for all students and families.
